           It's been a hot, booming Summer here in the Adirondacks! With temperatures well above our normal averages and very little rain it's been an extraordinary season so far. 

          This Saturday is the inaugural event of the McCauley Mountain Music Fest. The festival will feature a mix of bands as well as music from around New York State and our local area.  Two stages will allow the music to continue nonstop all day long. The tickets are $35, and can be purchased on the event's website or in town at Souvenir Village.

           There's still plenty of availability for Labor Day Weekend. On Sunday, September 5th you can enjoy Old Forge's Annual Labor festivities; located on the lakefront which include live music, fireworks and the CAA raffle. At this years raffle you can win a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro 2SS! In addition to the Camaro, 11 additional cash prizes will be given away, including one $10,000 cash prize, one $3,000 cash prize, and nine 1,000 cash prizes.

         Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! The weather this month has been amazing and quite hot, hopefully that hotness will stay for the summer months. We still have rooms for the 4th of July weekend, so don't miss out. The Enchanted Forest is gearing up for the season, and will be opening on Wednesday June 16th.    Art Walks
June 4
The first Friday of every month June - October, many local businesses will stay open later and provide a variety of activities for art lovers. The Art Center/Old Forge will offer reduced admissions fees, as well as beverages and hors d'oeuvres.

6th Annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition
June 12 - July 10

 Father's Day Weekend
June 18 - 20

 Friday:
Father's Day Weekend Classic Car Show Parade - Main Street, Old Forge. 7pm.

Saturday:
13th Annual Father's Day Weekend Car Show - Cash prizes to two best of show winners (antique/classic and modified street rod), dash plaques to first 100 entrants. First, second and third place trophies in 20 classes.  Gates open at 9am, judging starts at noon, prizes and trophies awarded at 3pm. Also auto-related vendors and swap meet, food and beverages available.

Sunday:  
Annual Father's Day Frog Jump - Children can bring their champion frog to win prizes and fathers should wear their most outrageous tie! Largest, smallest, and longest jumper. Great family fun! Don't worry, all frogs are released unharmed.

June 25 - McCauley Mountain Scenic Chairlift Open daily 9:30am to 4:30pm, closed Tuesdays

         The beautiful green grass and budding trees that comes with spring have finally arrived, despite Mother Nature's attempts to curb that with a few inches of snow at the tail end of April. It's been a warm couple of days here in the Adirondacks; which as everyone hopes is a great omen for the coming summer months.

 Gun Show and Adirondack Expo
May 14-16

 The show will have new, collectible, antique and investment firearms, swords and knives. Food will be available and be presented by local organizations. Daily admission is $7.00, $6.00 for seniors over 60 with children under 14 free with an adult. Open to the public on Saturday 9-5 and Sunday 9-3. Paddlefest Weekend
May 21-23

 

Each May, thousands of paddlers travel to Old Forge, NY, in the heart of the beautiful Adirondacks to enjoy Adirondack Paddlefest, America’s largest on-water boat sale. For three days you get to test paddle hundreds of different models of canoes, kayaks and whitewater boats. Paddling industry representatives and experts are on hand to answer your questions, and help you choose the perfect boat. Don't forget to visit our booth while you're there!

Adirondack Paddlefest, sponsored by Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company, is your chance to actually test paddle as many boats as you like, get personal, expert advice, find great deals on boats and paddling accessories, and.. have fun!

Memorial Day Weekend Festivities
May 28 - 31

 13th Annual Adirondack Polka Festival
Held at the Hiltebrant Recreation Center on North Street in Old Forge, featuring the nation's top polka bands. Polish and American food and beverages will be available. For information and tickets, call host Dave Sychtysz, phone (315) 699-1708

Annual Giant Garage Sale
Sales along Route 28 & South Shore Road from Old Forge to Inlet. Find some great deals. Maps will be available at the Old Forge Visitor Information Center for those sales called in no later than May 15th to 315-369-6983.

 

American Legion Memorial Day Parade
10am, Main Street - Ceremonies at School, Fire Hall, and Cemetery.  Refreshments after the parade will be available at the American Legion.  Line up 9:45am on Gilbert Street at School Entrance.
